Ubisoft Partners with Double Jump.Tokyo to Integrate Web3 Features into Its Games
Ubisoft, a renowned AAA gaming publisher and developer from France, is advancing its Web3 and blockchain initiatives. Last week, the company established a partnership with Double Jump.Tokyo, a developer specializing in Web3 gaming elements, to incorporate these features into some of its upcoming games.
The first phase of this collaboration involves the creation of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for Champions Tactics, a tactical role-playing game (RPG) currently in development at Ubisoft. Double Jump.Tokyo will utilize Home Verse, an L2 structure on the Oasys blockchain, known for its high transaction speeds and zero gas fees, for this project.
Ubisoft has been steadily working to integrate Web3 elements into some of its franchises, with varied reactions from the gaming community. The company has also invested in Web3 startups such as Animoca Brands and launched its own NFT platform in 2021.
Discussing the benefits of this alliance, Didier Genevois, Ubisoft’s Web3 Technical and Product Director, said:
“We are always seeking new partnerships that can elevate gaming and entertainment. We believe this collaboration will provide valuable insights into how decentralized technology can blend with gaming.”
Double Jump.Tokyo will assist in reaching Asian gamers more effectively, facilitating entry into the Asian market. “Partnering with a globally recognized industry leader like Ubisoft enables us to further our mission of delivering outstanding games to communities while accelerating the global adoption of Web3 gaming technology,” stated Hironobu Ueno, CEO of Double Jump.Tokyo.
Both Ubisoft and Double Jump.Tokyo serve as validators for Oasys, the blockchain that supports Home Verse.
